As we ready ourselves to close the door on 2024 we might be wondering what's next? What's behind the door of 2025? Do we even dare open the door to 2025? In 2024, I realized we were living in a metaphorical Star Wars movie, a fight between love and fear. And I was sure love would win out in November, but... well, here we are now. Fear seems to be closing in on us, but it doesn't mean the fight is lost - no way! We are called to stand even stronger in a circle of love. So what would happen if we take the focus away from the fear pictures we are holding and turn our images to those of love?
WHAT CAN WE DO?
Our collective unconscious is a powerful tool. And it all starts with us. That's you and me, and it boils down to "let it begin with me". Are you willing? Here goes!
CHANGE THE FEAR PICTURES OF 2025
What image are you holding in your mind for our country / the planet for 2025? You might think you don't have a picture. But alas. You do. And most likely it isn't a pretty one.
If we hold fear pictures- we help to create that reality. We end up giving our attention and thoughts and power to what we don't want - the fear based reality itself.
Are you willing to change that picture into something radically different? You may feel like you DID do that this year, and it WAS powerful. However, the outcome was not what we had hoped. The message is strengthen the picture. Keep it up!
It might be difficult to see a picture or hold an image of positive regard. Let's follow in the steps of all the people who have come before us who stood up with an image
of justice, hope, health, and well-being for all creatures, people and the planet herself.
This will not only help transform the world, but transform ourselves. Do not become part of the poison. Become the medicine. Living with the toxicity of fear and violence only creates more of that within ourselves and sparks the collective, cultural, and personal PTSD we all carry.
• HOW DO I CREATE A POSITIVE PICTURE?
Start slow. It's good to become aware of what we do see in our mind's eye. Write it down. It's ok if it's vague. Vague has a special power because it keeps the fear based picture in the unconcious. We need to flush it out to make room for a circle of love.
Now ask yourself what you would like to image. Go wild! Do you realize how many positive images you've had in your heart and soul that have been crushed by the world you live in. We've all given up so many beautiful images throughout our lifetime.
• TAKE NOTES. PLAY WITH IT. LET IT EVOLVE.
Watch the mind that will say things like, "that's stupid", or "that will never happen".
The image does NOT need to be logical or something that can be "proven".
One image I work with is seeing people holding hands around the globe.
It is not literal. It is metaphorical. It has feeling to it. This is what counts!
• WORK WITH VISCERAL THE FEELINGS
The more you can "feel" the image viscerally, the more power it has. Most of us have to start at the beginning. Here's a great starter exercise, adapted from www.hearthmath.com
• HEART MATH WARM-UP EXERCISE Place your hands on your heart.
Breathe.
Think of something you are grateful for.... a person, a critter, something in nature...
Feel this in your heart.
Feel it more.
Breathe.
Let the feeling of gratitude build in your heart.
Let the feeling of good will flood your body.
Now maybe that's enough for you right now.
If so practice a little at a time.
Build this muscle by practicing daily.
• CREATE A CIRCLE OF LOVE
When you are ready, start with the exercise above.
And then, begin to see the picture you have crafted in your heart.
It may be you can only visualize or feel little snippets at a time. That's ok.
Little by little see and hold and feel grateful and feel gratitude
for the image you are holding.
Let the image evolve if it wants.
Be with it over time.
With practice you'll carry it enough that when you tune in it's right there.
Let it flood your body and soul- as much as is possible.
Love it like a beautiful plant or your favorite pet.
• ADVANCED PRACTICE
Once you are able to call up and feel the image fairly easily,
you can begin to practice during distress:
When you read some distressing news,
or see something happen in your community that is difficult,
or something happens to you directly.
Breathe life into your special and sacred image.
Share it with others.
Maybe form meditation circles to practice this together.
• WATCH YOUR PERSONAL LIFE CHANGE!
You'll find more wellness, more peace, and more equanimity.
Will the world change?
You tell me!
Be well as we move into 2025.
In a circle of love,
Haleya Priest
